They finished Pool D with a staggering +12 goal difference, making them the tournament’s most prolific side after the group stage.
But now comes the real test.Hollong FC.Hollong also finished their group campaign in style, beating Medieval Knights FC 4-0. They will enter the quarter-final knowing that Langsa Hill’s numbers may be frightening — but knockout football is about what happens on the day.
TEHOK MEAN BUSINESS
While Langsa Hill have been tearing through Pool D, Tehok FC have been doing much the same in Pool C.
Two games.Two victories.12 goals scored. One conceded.Their latest 4-0 win over Medieval Knights FC confirmed their position at the top of Pool C and underlined just how dangerous they are going forward.
But standing between Tehok and the semi-finals is Naolen FC.Naolen booked their place with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Wangkhao Government College, recovering from an early deficit to finish second in Pool D.
Tehok may arrive as favourites on paper.Naolen will be looking to tear that paper up.
MAVERICKS HAVE ALREADY FIRED A WARNING SHOT
Then there are the Mavericks FC.They didn’t merely win Pool B.They dominated it.Six points from two matches, 11 goals scored and just one conceded.
Their final group-stage performance was perhaps the clearest warning yet, as they dismantled FC Mighty 5-0, with Pangteih completing a hat-trick.Now they face Tizit Village, who finished second in Pool A.
Tizit arrive after a confidence-boosting 4-2 victory over Town Boys’ FC Aboi, but the challenge ahead is enormous.Mavericks have been clinical.Tizit have shown they can fight.Something has to give.
EIPA UNITED vs FC MIGHTY: FIRST UP
The knockout action begins Friday morning with EIPA United FC taking on FC Mighty at 8:30 AM.EIPA topped Pool A with four points from their two matches, while FC Mighty finished second in Pool B with three.
Mighty will want to erase the memory of their 5-0 defeat to Mavericks.EIPA, meanwhile, know they have an opportunity to make their consistency count when the pressure rises.
